Job Description:

The Assistant Disability Services Specialist is responsible for working with students, faculty and staff in providing accommodations for college students with learning and physical disabilities.  In addition, the specialist will provide support with the use of assistive equipment.

Essentials Functions:

a. Provide testing accommodations including, but not limited to reading, scribing, or proctoring tests. This function may occur at the Hopewell, Geneva, Wayne, or Victor campus sites.

b. Assist the current coordinators with providing appropriate accommodations.

c. Assist in completing necessary paperwork.

d. Assist in tracking student retention and success.

e. Work with assistive equipment which may include scanning textbooks, brailing, etc.

f. Work with current the current coordinators and Chair of the Developmental Studies Department to design weekly schedules.

Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree preferably in Education or related field.  Experience working with students with disabilities preferred.  Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.  Requires a flexible schedule and travel to campus centers.  Experience and familiarity with the use and applicability of assistive technology for individuals with disabilities in an academic setting preferably post secondary. 


Additional Information:

Part time, 12 month. $17.00/hr guarantee 10 hours/week - maximum of 20 hours per week scheduled as needed.
